Awards of the Central Psychiatric Society - Central Zone

B.B. Sethi Oration Award

Nominations are invited for oration to be delivered at Annual Conference of Central Zone. The proposal of this award should be accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae of the nominee in triplicate under following headings:

  1. Name; Age; Details of Qualifications: Details of position held and professional experience; complete list of publications (listing the papers as is being done for references of Indian Journal of Psychiatry) with nominees name underlined, details of research done in the past or currently being done including the sponsoring authority, if any, interest in the specific area of psychiatry and work done in the particular area; & zonal IPS conferences; details of office position held in Indian Psychiatry Society Or zone; details of foreign Visits & its importance.
  2. The proposal for the oration to be accompanied by declaration signed by the nominee that:
    a.) He is fellow member of Indian Psychiatric Society and member of the Central Zone.
    b.) He has cleared dues of Indian Psychiatric Society and of the Zone till date.
    c.) He has not received central zone oration and/or B.B. Sethi oration in the past.
  3. The nomination must be proposed and seconded by a fellow member along with consent of nominee and to be sent to the chairperson oration award committee.

Best Paper Award

Member/s who wish to contest for Best Paper Award in the forth coming Annual Conference Of Central Zone IPS should send four copies of full paper & four copies of abstract to the chairperson awards committee.

Other criteria are as follows:

  1. The paper has to be based on research work done in India by the members Of central zone.
  2. No paper shall be eligible to compete for the award, where a member, who has won Best Paper Award for immediately preceding year as an author or co-author.
  3. A paper of substantially the same paper can not compete for more than once in any particular conference.
  4. The principal author and at least 50% of all the authors must be member Of the central zone at the time Of the conference,without any pending dues.
  5. The covering letter must mention the membership status of all the authors.
  6. The paper competing for Best Paper Award will have to be presented by principal i.e. first author. Paper winning the Best Paper Award will be eligible to compete for Bombay Psychiatric Society Silver Jubilee Award at Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society to be held the next year.

Taranaidu Award

This award has been instituted out of an endowment received from Dr. Hemant Naidu in the memory of his late wife Mrs.Tara Naidu. This award is being instituted, with a view to encourage research and stimulate presentation of research papers at the IPS-CZ Conferences. The best paper presented at the “free papers” sessions of concurrent scientific sessions of Central Zone -Indian Psychiatric Society of the particular year will be awarded this “award” at the annual conference of Central Zone — IPS.

  1. To be eligible for the award, the paper must fulfill each of the following criteria:
     a) It must not have been published in a scientific journal nor have been awarded any award of IPS. 
     b) The principal author and at least 50% of all the authors must be member of the Central Zone – Indian Psychiatric Society at the time of the conference.
  2. The panel of judges shall rate the papers. Out of the total marks i.e. 100% will be for preparation, compilation and presentation of the paper. Those securing the highest total marks (out of 100) shall win the award, subject to ratification by the award committee and the executive council of the society. In case of a tie the concerned papers will be declared the joint Winners. To win an award not less than 50% of the full marks must be obtained by a paper.
  3. All authors of the award winning paper shall be considered to have won the award and will be issued certificates and will be eligible for the award money. The money will be handed over to the principal author for distribution among the co-authors.
  4. None of the judges appointed for this award shall be contestants for this award. However, a judge is eligible to contest for any Other award.
