Covid pandemic has caused an unprecedented rise in mental problems across the globe. As per data of World Health Organisation (WHO), up till now, around 16 crore people across the globe have suffered from COVID-19. Out of which, 32 lakhs people have died. So the overall percentage of deaths due to Covid is still around 2%, which can be extrapolated to 4% to its maximum, considering under-reporting in some areas. But mental problems due to Covid have increased disproportionately and tremendously. Studies have shown around the globe that 40% of the population is suffering from significant psychiatric disorders like anxiety, depression, sleep issues, fear of Covid, increased substance abuse (addiction), screen addiction in children, suicidal thoughts etc. We need to understand that these are majorly preventable conditions, if we take experts’ opinions on time.
